Lead with (Real) Vision

I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by one of my favorite leadership experts, Kevin Eikenberry, on his Remarkable Leadership Podcast about how to lead with (real) vision.

During our 20 minute interview, I shared the story of what drew me to investigate the concept of vision in the 1980’s and how I identified the three elements of a (real) vision.

We spoke at length about “mental imagery” and the principles that make this technique so powerful. And I described each of the three elements of a vision and how they work together to create a vision that inspires and guides you and your team.

We discussed why these ideas are so important for team leaders, and how to use them within your own sphere of influence, whatever that sphere encompasses.

And we discussed how these ideas apply at an individual level.

A (real) vision is crisp and clear, not vague. Whether it’s for a company, a department, a team, or an individual – ask questions like: “What would it look like if we were magnificent?”

You can see we covered a lot of ground in just 20 minutes! Much thanks to Kevin for this opportunity and for a rich conversation.
